As promised I have a big announcement this week. I am so excited to be involved in a new and huge project in my life. It comes along with a story… Ready? Here we go!
I have always loved photography (obviously), and my story is a little bit different than other peoples. When my business really took off I was pregnant with my second baby. For me, the farther I got involved with photography as a business the less pictures I took of my own children. I am so in love with my children and I love my work in photography, but when it came to mixing the two it was just that, WORK! So, as the years have past my personal family portfolio has dwindled. Additionally, my kids have been a frustration for me to photograph. When “mom” is behind the camera running the session with big expectations, it did not always work. Last January I set a new years resolution to take more pictures of my kids (I currently have 2 times as many pics of my best friends kids than I do of my own…). As most resolutions go it was set aside and I enjoyed a busy and successful wedding season. All of the sudden it was late summer and I still had not done a session. So, I dressed my kids up, and we went to town. I would have to say that in that moment in time my life shifted on its track. For the first time in my LIFE I was overjoyed with the pictures of my own kids. I was having a blast, and I felt like a new wind was blowing me away!
With a new interest in mind I sought out a friend. I met Vanessa Millcam about a year ago when she attended a mentor ship I did. She was a driven, talented, and amazing photographer. I have watched her over the past year really developed and create something amazing with her work. Out of ALL of the studio stuff I was watching, it was her photos that inspired me the most. So, we talked, and she agreed to “take me under her wing” and get me going on studio stuff. HOLY COW it was so fun! We had an incredible model and I was instantly re-energized about photography. My favorites of that session is posted below.
When I got home from working with Vanessa I had a heart to heart with my husband. We decided that it would be a great idea to establish a studio space for me in our home. For the past 6 weeks we have been working on completing that project in our basement. My husband is a huge “do it your self-er” and has done a large bulk of the work himself. In fact, tonight he is laying hard wood floors to complete the project. It has been a lot of work, and so rewarding seeing everything come together. In 1 week I will be 100% ready to do full studio sessions! Yea!
In preparation for that I did a practice shoot last night. It has been so much fun to push myself as a photographer all over again and to really step out of the box and to see light in a new way. I can not WAIT to see where this is going to take me, and I can not wait to get there as quick as I can (in true Kellee fashion)! I am so excited to make mom’s as excited about their children’s pictures as I was! That is really what I want to bring to this! I know how important that is as a mother!
Tomorrow I will be at a mini boutique from 2-5 at my friends residence located at 641 E. 2100 N. in North Logan. I am going to be doings some great grand opening specials that will ONLY be available tomorrow during the boutique. If you are considering booking a session you will not want to miss it! Have a great weekend, and we will hopefully see you tomorrow!

I would love to hear what you think!
